History of Knockanore Cheese

Between Tallow and Youghal in the valley of Knockanore is the birthplace of a distinctive semi-hard type of cheese. For over 17 years now full cream cow's milk produced from the Lonergan herd has been turned carefully by hand into wheels of Knockanore Farmhouse Cheese.

Steeped in history and richness, the valley of Knockanore, hidden away from the hustle and bustle of the world promises serene peace and calmness. This environment along with the true love of wholesome food encouraged Eamonn Lonergan to study, investigate and eventually develop the art of cheese making.

Using their herd of prize-winning pedigree cows, Eamonn carefully and skilfully developed the unique flavours and textures that are now well known amongst cheese connoisseurs as Knockanore Farmhouse Cheese.
